THE PEOPLE BEHIND

THE PROGRESS

Together, we bring a wide range of experience to this mission, from military leadership to large scale project management to advanced scientific training, and direct involvement in the study of CMT.

Nate Parrish

Founder

Nate Parrish is a medically retired U.S. Army officer and non-commissioned officer, current biology researcher, and father on a mission to help end Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT) disease. Following his son’s diagnosis with CMT1A, he enrolled in college and ultimately took a leap of faith — leaving behind a stable military career of 12 years to fight the disease head-on. He currently works in academic research while building Versus CMT as a platform dedicated to accelerating research, translating science into real conversations, and bringing together patients, families, researchers, and clinicians around a shared goal: ending CMT. Through the Nate Versus CMT podcast and the broader Versus CMT movement, Nate aims to combine science, storytelling, and relentless determination to help make this the last generation to live with CMT. Outside the lab, he is a longtime martial artist, philosopher, and father of two who believes deeply in resilience, curiosity, and refusing to accept “good enough” when it comes to the future of people living with anything but the best.

Patrick Parrish

Treasurer

Pat is a career electrical engineer, entrepreneur, husband, and father who joined Versus CMT to help support its long-term mission and growth. With nearly 20 years of experience in project management and leadership, he brings valuable perspective, professionalism, and organizational experience to the foundation. As Nate’s older brother, he remains a steady source of support throughout the development of Versus CMT and shares a deep belief in building a better future for families affected by inherited disease. Outside of work, he remains committed to his family and enjoys staying involved in sports, major life events, personal growth, and helping shape a strong future for the people he cares about most.

Moses Ataben

Secretary

At Versus CMT, he brings scientific expertise and a global perspective while developing new CMT1A and HNPP disease models to better understand disease mechanisms and support future therapies.
